UND Writers Conference Archives Collection Overview

Since 1970, the University of North Dakota has hosted an annual writers conference, bringing some of the most important writers of the past few decades together to discuss their art. Former attendees include Allen Ginsburg, the Beats, Harlan Ellison, and many more.

The Chester Fritz Library Department of Special Collections plans to digitize the recorded readings, panel sessions, and lectures of these conferences. The main library site has a complete listing of conference sessions by year, including an overview of which have been digitized.

Viewing the video requires QuickTime. The very earliest conferences (1970-1973) were recorded in audio only, and are currently being digitized.
